Jan 27 : The 72nd Republic day of India was celebrated with patriotic fervour with the unfurling of the tricolour and rendition of the National anthem at Father Muller Charitable Institutions.

This year 2021 the honorary task of unfurling the Tricolour was given to Dr Jacitha Martis, Prof and head, Department of Dermatology, Father Muller Medical College.

The event began with the playing of patriotic songs and the gathering standing at ease in orderly pattern headed by the Director FMCI Rev Fr Richard A. Coelho. The event began sharp at 8:30am with a march past by the security personnel of the Father Muller Campus headed by the campus security officer. Mr Muthuraj, Associate Professor Audiology of the Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing welcomed the gathering. The choral voices of the Father Muller Medical College sung the invocation hymn. Dr Jacintha on unfurling the flag to a resounding singing of the national anthem, gave her address to the gathering saying, “nationalism and patriotism should be inculcated in the youth, bravery of our unsung heroes should never be forgotten and the need for a secular and liberal society to rise to call of the nation”.

Dr Kelvin Pais, Liaison Officer FMCI announced the honour received by the Father Muller Medical College, honoured for Achievements in implementing Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka Scheme , the honour to be presented during the 72nd Republic Day celebrations being organised at Nehru Maidan, Mangaluru later in the day.

A thank you note was delivered by the MC for the day Dr Aektha Shetty, Senior Resident dept of OBG. The event was beautifully managed by Rev Fr Ajith Menezes, Administrator of the Father Muller Medical College.

Sweetmeats were distributed to the gathering. Faculty, staff, students, patients and bystanders along with the management participated with robust zeal at the event.
