Nov 25 : Promotion of eco-friendly plastic waste bottle bricks has created a new dimension in the process of plastic waste management. Children in schools, members of Self Help Groups and several community people have become aware of the harmful effects of plastic waste and are making all-out efforts to contain this menace.

CODP Mangalore, which initiated the eco-friendly bottle bricks benches in a few schools and SHGs was invited to train children of Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill-Bondel in how to manage plastic waste.

At the invitation of the Headmistress of MCC School; Fr Richard DSouza, Director of Canara Communications Centre and Ms Lenet Gonsalves, Program Manager of CODP motivated a few children of the school and practically demonstrated how to stuff shredded plastic into used plastic bottles to make hardened eco-friendly bottle bricks. They also encouraged the children to spread this knowledge to others in their school and neighborhood. The children, who had already collected a number of empty plastic bottles and plastic waste, were enthusiastic about commencing a small project in their school.
