The International Workers Day or May Day was celebrated at CODP by DWIDF (Domestic Workers Integrated Development Forum). The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Rev. Fr Oswald Monteiro, Director of CODP. The resource persons on this occasion were Mr. Sathish Kumar, Attavar and Prof. Rita Noronha. The Coodinator of CODP Mrs. Shanthi D’Souza and Animator Mrs. Kala were also present. Mrs. Shanthi D’Souza welcomed the persons on the dais and also the other participants attending the programme.

In his inaugural address Fr Oswald Monteiro explained that all types of work have dignity. Whichever work whether of office or the domestic work, it must be done sincerely. We should not feel ashamed to do any just job. The corrupt officers, thieves, fraudsters who are involved in cheating people should feel ashamed and not the manual workers who do menial jobs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Sathish Kumar, the Bank Counselor of Jana Jyothi Trust, gave a talk on financial literacy especially information of Jandhan Yojana Scheme and various other schemes available in banks.

Dr. Rita Noronha spoke on the injustice and atrocities committed to the domestic workers in their work place and called on the domestic workers to fight through their Unions and assert their rights.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Kala.
