MANGALURU OCT 28 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement, (ICYM) Episcopal City Deanery organised “Yuva Milan 2K21” on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Rosario Cathedral Hall. Around 300 youth of the deanery got together and participated in the event with great zest and ardor.

The programme commenced with a prayer song led by the youth. The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony was Ms Ruth Clare D’silva, All India 1st rank holder in National level CA examination 2021. Rev. Fr Alfred Pinto- parish priest, Rosario Cathedral, Rev. Fr Ashwin Cardoza- ICYM diocesan director, Rev. Fr Ronson Pinto- ICYM ECD Director, Jaison Crasta- ICYM Diocesan President, Sanjay D’souza- ICYM ECD President and Teena Pashao- ICYM ECD Secretary, were present on the dais. ICYM Mangalore Diocesan Executive council members were present for the programme.

Sanjay D’souza- ICYM ECD president, welcomed the gathering. “Yuva Milan 2K21” was inaugurated in a unique way by the dignitaries on the dais. Teena Pashao- ICYM ECD Secretary, read out the annual report of the year 2019-2021.

Ms Ruth Clare D’silva was felicitated for securing AIR 1 in ICAI CA examination 2021. In her address, she encouraged the youth to dream big and work hard towards achieving their goals.

Ms Blairil Vishma D’cunha was felicitated for being elected as the General Secretary of ICYM Mangalore diocese for the year 2021-22. Newly-wed Mr. Neil Prashun D’Souza who served as the ICYM ECD Secretary in the year 2017-12 and his wife Mrs. Melita Bambina D’Souza were felicitated and congratulated. ECD council members for the year 2021-22 were honoured during the programme. Prizes were distributed to the winners of ‘Magnificat 2021’, the online Marian Hymn competition that was conducted by ICYM ECD in the month of September.

Rev. Fr Ashwin Cardoza congratulated the youth and lauded them for their participation in large numbers. Rev Fr Alfred Pinto encouraged the youth and wished success for the event.

Sonali Rodrigues- ICYM ECD Treasurer, proposed the vote of thanks. Alwyn D’souza- ICYM ECD Vice President compered the inaugural programme. Games and fun-filled activities were conducted by ICYM Mangalore Diocesan team during the morning session.

Mr Eugene Dcunha, a renowned speaker by passion and lawyer by profession delivered a talk on the topic “Problems faced by the youth”, where he covered topics such as love, drugs and mental health.

Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr Ronson Pinto and Rev. Fr Vinod preached the homily.

The afternoon session began with a cultural programme where the youth of all units showcased their talents in the form of song, dance and joke. Team building activities and exciting games were conducted by MFC youth team and ECD council.

The cultural session was compered by Rorthan Coelho- ICYM ECD Joint Secretary.

Valedictory programme of “Yuva Milan 2K21” commenced at 4pm. V. Rev. Fr Vincent Monteiro- Vicar forane, Episcopal City Deanery, presided over the ceremony. He congratulated the youth for their active participation in the programme. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the games. Bendur unit bagged the “Best Unit” trophy for having maximum number of participants.

Rev. Fr Ronson Pinto thanked everyone for their participation and efforts in making “Yuva Milan 2K21” a successful programme. Carol Martis- ICYM ECD Auditor, compered the valedictory programme. The programme ended with a baila dance session for the youth.

It was a day of enjoyment for all the youth of the deanery who enthusiastically participated and actively interacted in all the activities and sessions.
