April 11, Mangalore: The Diocese of Mangalore marked a significant moment on Thursday with the Priestly Ordination for the year 2024 held at Rosario Cathedral, Mangalore, at 3 p.m. Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore, presided over the ceremony, ordaining Deacon Norman John Mathias, Deacon Pradeep Clarence Rodrigues, and Deacon Lanson Maxim Pinto.
The ordination ceremony witnessed the presence of Monsignor Maxim Noronha, Vicar General; V. Rev. Victor George, Chancellor; V. Rev Naveen Pinto, Judicial Vicar; V. Rev. Ronald Serrao, Rector of St Joseph’s Seminary; and Fr Rev. Fr Alfred Pinto, Rector of the Cathedral, alongside several priests and religious members.
Deacon Norman John Mathias, son of Mr Norbert and Janet Mathias of Kuppepadavu parish, Deacon Pradeep Clarence Rodrigues, son of Mr Pascal and Celine Rodrigues of Ferar parish, and Deacon Lanson Maxim Pinto, son of Mrs Shalet and Late Mr Lancy Pinto of Fajir parish, were the focus of the ceremony, marking the beginning of their journey as priests.
Post the mass, the newly ordained priests were felicitated, with Rev. Fr Vijay Machado moderating the ceremony and Rev. Fr Santhosh Rodrigues introducing and expressing words of felicitation to the newly ordained. In response, Rev. Fr Norman Mathias, one of the newly ordained priests, proposed the vote of thanks.
