As we are immediately after the Easter celebration I wish every one of you a Happy and Joyous Easter. On 21 March 2016, there was a get together of the Priests of our Diocese and a few religious in Pastoral service. Though 180 priests have registered their names, there were some more who came after the registration, making it 195. Hence a big number participating in the Presbyterium Day was praiseworthy. The programmes held on the occasion were appreciated by one and all. I thank the Secretary of the Senate and all those who made it meaningful. The number of priests I noticed concelebrating in the Chrism Mass was more than usual. I thank all the Fathers for making sacrifice to attend the Mass. I pray that the unity of the Presbyterium may be fostered and promoted continuously.
The Holy oils blessed on the Mass of the Chrism are to be taken to the parishes. The old oils should be burnt or poured into the Blessed Sacrament lamp. The oils are available in the reception of the Bishop’s House. Please take them personally or send someone with your letter. Last year a few have not registered taking the oils.
Several parishes had organised pilgrimages to the Shrines and churches assigned for Jubilee indulgence. I appreciate the efforts made by you. Such exercises help to deepen Christian piety and reception of the Sacraments. Those who did not get such opportunity should be provided to the faithful. This being the important event in the church, all of us should strive to implement the wishes of the Pope.
I have been making appeal to you to promote and foster vocations for priestly and religious life. God has blessed our Diocese with good vocations. I request you to enlist some boys to join for our Diocese. However please keep in mind the academic standards and the family background of the boys. You know the suitability of a boy for the Diocesan clergy. Those selected will stay at Gladsom and pursue their studies in XI and XII standard. If some boys would like to stay at home and attend monthly recollections and retreat in Gladsom could be permitted. Those who have completed graduation may also join the Seminary. They may be directed to approach the Rector, Gladsom who will make necessary arrangements.
I thank you for your cooperation and good will to me. I do pray for you. May God bless you.
