"BE AWARE BE SAFE" - Drug and Traffic Safety Awareness Seminar conducted by State Police Department at Lourdes Central School

Lourdes Central School organized an Awareness Programme on the topic Anti Drug and Traffic Awareness on 28th october, 2017 for classes VII-XII. The programme began with a prayer song that filled the hall with a divine ambience. The program was then inaugurated symbolically by the dignitaries by lighting the lamp. The keynote speakers of the day Mr. Yogish Kumar, Inspector of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Mangalore; Mr. Sudhir Hegde DYSP; Ms. Uma Prashanth, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Mangalore; Mr. Manjunath, Inspector of Police, Traffic North Surathkal; Mr Uday Nayak, Assistant Commissioner of Police; Mr Maruthi Nayak, Inspector of Police Kadri Police Station graced the occasion.






The head boy Abner Pinto of class 12 welcomed the gathering. Mr. Sudhir Hegde was introduced by Mr Ivan Mascarenas and was felicitated by the Manager, LCS Rev Fr Wilson Vitus D’souza and the Principal LCS Rev. Fr Robert D’souza. Mr. Sudhir Hegde DYSP addressed the students by urging them to become IAS or IPS officers in order to bring about change in the society.

Mr. Yogesh Kumar spoke about drug addiction in schools and colleges and also explained about different types of drugs, reasons and also legal measures undertaken to control drug menace. He further advised the students to abstain from drugs and gave the slogan ‘say no to drugs’. Ms Uma Prashanth spoke about the importance of the police personnel in the society.






Mr. Manjunath Inspector of Police Traffic Surathkal - in his inspiring talk briefed the students about the importance of following traffic rules, using helmet, importance of seatbelt, driving licence and the other essentials to be followed regarding traffic safety.

Before concluding the session the Principal Rev Fr Robert D’ Souza honored the guests with mementos.

The program was compered by Navya Bhandary of class 10 and Nidhi M proposed the vote of thanks.
